What is the major difference between most adult human cells and an undifferentiated stem cell in an embryo?
a. The adult cell reproduces by mitosis; the stem cell reproduces by meiosis.
b. Adult cells are derived from the outer cell mass of the blastocyst; stem cells are derived from the inner cell mass of the blastocyst.
c. Adult cells are not affected by toxins; stem cells are affected by toxins.
d. Adult cells are differentiated; the stem cell is not and therefore, can give rise to more than one cell type.
